Juniors

Commencing in September and finishing in March, Ryde Hawks Baseball League offers competitions for all levels of playing ability. Baseball is for everyone and boys and girls play in mixed competitions.

T-Ball

U7 – non competitive  games designed to develop the basic skills necessary for all young players to play baseball or any sport. The games are 60 minutes in duration and every child bats twice or 3 times a game and fields in different positions. The emphasis is on fun, playing with your friends or finding new friends. In addition, you don’t have to travel far as all games are geographically based. All Coaches are accredited by Ryde Hawks Coaching staff.

Little League T-Ball

U8 – competitive games designed to develop the basic skills necessary for all young players to play baseball or any sport. Every child bats in a game and fields in different positions. The emphasis is on fun, playing with your friends or finding new friends. In addition, you don’t have to travel far as all games are geographically based. All Coaches are accredited by Ryde Hawks Coaching staff.

Little League Zooka

U9 ~ U10 – competitive and non graded competition and develops skills against a moving ball. A machine called a zooka  allows players to bat against a ball delivered at a safe speed in a controlled and consistant strike zone, building their confidence before moving to live ball pitching. The emphasis is on fun and playing with your friends or finding new friends. In addition you don’t have to travel far as all games are geographically based.

Little League Live Ball

U10 ~ U12 – competitive and graded for players who are ready to play live baseball. The emphasis is on matching playing skills of teams and teams are graded based on their development. The focus is still on having fun while developing young players skills to maximise their playing enjoyment in a competitive environment.

Live Ball

U14 ~ U19 – competitive and graded for players who are playing live baseball. The emphasis is on matching playing skills of teams and teams are graded based on their development. The focus is still on having fun while continuing to develop young players skills and to maximise their playing enjoyment in a competitive environment.

Play Ball!!!

To make things easier for you to enjoy your child’s season ahead, the Quick Links table below provides links to most documents that you will need. Have a look through all of the links, but here are a few highlights:

  • For Draw information, there is NO other reliable source of information other than the draws published by Ryde Hawks. Always, always, always rely on the “Draws” link above. Simply go to Team Schedules and click on your team. If there is a “vs” listed before the team you are playing in a particular week, you are the AWAY side. If not, you are the HOME side.
  • If you are interested in knowing what other junior (and senior) games are being played at Greenway Park this weekend, click on the “Greenway Park This Weekend” link.
  • If you need to get in touch with your Coach or Manager, or any other Greenway Giants Coach or Manager, click on the “Coaches/Managers” link.
  • For kids who are interested in taking their baseball to the next level, click on “Rep Information” for details of the opportunities available.
  • Finally, and perhaps most importantly, to make the club run each team is occasionally rostered for ground set-up and Canteen duty throughout the season. If your team plays Saturday mornings, click on the “Duty Roster – Saturday” above. Similarly, if your team plays on Friday nights, click on the “Duty Roster – Friday” above.

That’s about it – hope the kids have a cracking season!

Game Management Course

RHBL is running a game management course, as an introduction to umpiring, this is available to any one of any age.

We are encouraging all our junior players (Little League Live Ball) to participate as this could be a good way to get a greater understanding of the game from a different perspective.

For those wishing to register please click here to register on the RHBL website.

Well Done Peter

We would like to congratulate Greenway Junior Peter Bae on his selection to the Cal Ripken team to represent Australia.

Fresh from his recent stint representing Ryde at the Little League Nationals in Lismore, Peter was then selected to represent his country.

Peter had a fantastic trip to the USA where he gained some valuable new baseball skills, and of course friendships, all while representing his Country and his Club proudly.

Well done Peter and good luck in your future baseball endeavours.

We look forward to seeing you on the diamonds again this summer at Greenway.

Working Bee

With the new season about to start, we are holding our annual club working bee on Sunday the 10th of September from 8am until 1pm at Greenway Park.

The idea is to do some basic housekeeping around the diamonds so that they are in good shape for the new season.

We would love to have at least 1 member from each family, come down and help out, even if you can only spare an hour or so. We have a good group of dedicated volunteers who come down each year to help, but it would be great to see some new faces so we can share the workload around.

Some of the items we require people to bring on the day.

  • Shovels
  • Metal Rakes
  • Brooms
  • Blowers
  • Pliers

You wont go unrewarded for all your hard work we will be providing a sausage sizzle and refreshments for all our hard working volunteers.
