Level O Umpires Course (Baseball)
It is Greenway Giants club policy that all Baseball coaches must be certified to Level O standard. We are pleased to announce that in the run-up to the new season, the NSW Baseball Umpires Association will be running a course at Majors Bay Reserve, Nullawarra Avenue, Concord West - Concord Comets' home ground.
Note that the club fully subsidises the cost of attending such courses, so the only investment required for budding umpires is the time such courses take. Parents and eligible Junior Blues, please take this opportunity to support the club by becoming qualified to umpire your child's games.
Where? Majors Bay Reserve, Nullawarra Avenue, Concord West
When? August 27th, 2010 7:00pm - 10:30pm
To register, register on the NSW Baseball Umpires Association home page, noting that your club is the Greenway Giants, playing within the Ryde Hornsby Baseball League. This will enable NSWBUA to invoice us for your participation.
The Giants Need You (Junior Blues)!
Did you know that there are opportunities for both junior Softballers and junior Baseballers to become qualified umpires?
Baseballers who are eligible to play in U14 or U16 age divisions are invited to be part of this program, which involves receiving training (fully funded by the club), and being mentored by more senior umpires until such time as you can umpire your own games. Best of all, for every game you umpire throughout summers, you will receive a free drink and free sausage sandwich from the Greenway Park BBQ.
Becoming an umpire will improve your knowledge and enjoyment of the game, and assists the running of competitions across the club. See elsewhere on this page for details of upcoming courses.
For more information, contact Gary Simpson (baseball) or Cheryl Jones (softball) early in the second half of September each summer season.
Level 1 Umpiring Seminar
There is a Level 1 Umpire Seminar coming up early next month. Please note that umpires for the Sydney Junior Championship, Little League Tournament, Champion of Champions and All Star Day must hold current Level 1 accreditation to be eligible to umpire.
Umpires can check their accreditation status by contacting John Robertson, State Director of Umpires.

Official Rules of Baseball
The Official Rules of Baseball form the foundation of what occurs every Saturday and Sunday at Greenway Park. The associations in which we compete vary rules in the interests of development and safety of our young players, but where no such variation exists, the following rules (linked through to MLB.com) apply:
